Update from the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail

Update from the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail:

It seems we're moving on to the next phase of extending the Northern Rail Trail in Boscawen.  The purchase has been finalized, and the deed has been recorded.

Governor Sununu to accept donation from Friends of the Northern Rail Trail for Northern Rail Trail extension to Concord city line.

All fans and supporters of the Northern Rail Trail are invited to attend a special ceremony at Hannah Duston Park in Boscawen to begin at 8:30 am on Friday, March 25, celebrating the State's recent purchase of the .6 mile right of way (ROW) from Pan Am Railways with funds raised by FNRT from generous donors and with FNRT's promise to extend the Northern Rail Trail to the Concord city line.

During the ceremony Governor Sununu will be handed a ceremonial check for $110,000 by Jack Shields, member of FNRT's board of directors and Boscawen Extension Project leader.  Jack will lay out what the rail trail's friends group has planned for extending the existing 59 mile 4 season recreational trail to Concord and improvements envisioned for the Hannah Duston Park trailhead.

This event will take place rain or shine.  Parking is available at the Rt. 4 Park & Ride in Boscawen. Look for the blue Northern Rail Trail sign to guide you from the parking area down the paved path to the Park. See you there!

Join us to celebrate the next phase of the extension of the Northern Rail Trail (NRT) in Boscawen.  Join the Friends of the Northern Rail Trail and Governor Sununu on Friday, March 25th at 8:30 am at Hannah Duston Island to hear about the plans to extend the NRT and improve amenities at the soon-to-be-built Hannah Duston Trailhead.  For more information, contact info@fnrt.org.
